The Challenge
The client had 200+ Linux servers (mix of RHEL and Ubuntu) across multiple data centers with no standardized configuration. Patch levels were inconsistent, SSH access was poorly controlled, several servers were running end-of-life OS versions, and a HIPAA audit flagged 47 critical findings.
Our Solution
Maxora performed a full Linux estate audit, then implemented CIS-benchmarked hardening across all servers using Ansible automation. We standardized configurations, enforced SSH key-based access, deployed centralized logging (rsyslog + ELK), implemented automated patching with staged rollouts, and migrated EOL servers to supported distributions.
The Result
All 47 HIPAA audit findings were resolved within 8 weeks. The client passed their next compliance audit with zero critical findings. Patch compliance went from 40% to 99%, and Ansible automation reduced manual admin time by 70% — freeing the team for higher-value work.
